Introduction:
The J&K State Rehabilitation
Council has been created vide Administrative decision No. 21
Dated. 14-02-1996. The objectives of the Council are to provide
physical, psychological and economic rehabilitation of the
victims of militancy in Jammu and Kashmir with special focus on
widows, orphans, and handicapped and aged persons whose bread
winner is killed or incapacitated as a result of militancy.

Objectives: |
The objectives of the Council are
to:

Provide relief and immediate
succor to destitute victims of militancy.

Formulate and undertake programmes or projects, schemes for assistance to
widows, orphans, handicapped and old aged persons and women of families
affected by militancy in particular for their education, vocational training
and rehabilitation.

Undertake programmes or projects for assisting in the physical,
psychological and economic rehabilitation of the widows, orphans handicapped
and old persons particularly those who are affected by the militancy related
activities.

Provide better coverage to its beneficiaries
under various ongoing welfare and development schemes of the Government.

Rehabilitate persons rendered physically handicapped by militancy, by way of
fitment of limbs etc.

Cooperate with the Central Government, other
State Governments and UTs and secure the assistance/ cooperation of
voluntary organizations/ NGOs /Commercial and Industrial Organizations and
other bodies in promoting the objectives of the Council.
