About Us:

The Rehabilitation Council was created vide State Administrative Council’s Decision No.21 dated 14-02-1996. The Council stands registered under the Societies Act VI of 1998 (1941 A.D.) under the name and style of “Council for Rehabilitation of Widows, Orphans, Handicapped and Old persons (Victims of Militancy) in J&K”.

The objectives of the Council are to provide assistance for the physical, psychological and economical rehabilitation of the victims of militancy in Jammu and Kashmir with special focus on widows, orphans, handicapped and the aged persons whose bread-winner is killed or incapacitated as a result of militancy.

 

The Rehabilitation Council is a three –tier body comprising.

  • Governing Council
    The Governing Council is the apex Body of the Council comprises of 21 Members. It is headed by the Hon,ble Chief Minister. Its role is to lay down policies for the Rehabilitation Council.

  • Executive Council
    The Executive Council, comprising 7 members, is responsible for execution and management of activities of the Rehabilitation Council. It is headed by the Chief Secretary.

  • District Level Committees
    The District Level Committee is responsible for identification and scrutiny of the beneficiaries.  The State Rehabilitation Council releases funds to the beneficiaries through DBT mode.
